The Mountain Bike Life

I have been thinking about purpose lately. Over the past year or so I have been struggling with the purpose of The Mountain Bike Life. Why do we exist and where are we going in the future?

I wanted TMTBL to be a place where content creators could share their stories and love of this sport with our readers. To give them a place for their writing and help them have a voice in the industry.

I got caught up in wanting more, more views, more social media and more recognition. I wanted to be able to pay our awesome contributors, give them back a little of what they put into this site. With that pressure came some disappointment when attempts at advertising did not do as well as I wanted. This put a lot of stress on me and took away a lot of enjoyment that this site once brought.

  1. the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
“the purpose of the meeting is to appoint a trustee”
synonyms: motive, motivation, grounds, cause, occasion, reason, point, basis, justification More

I started chatting with some of the other contributors and put a lot of thought into what the future holds for TMTBL. What it comes down to is simplifying and to concentrate on quality over quantity. What is important is our passion for mountain biking and sharing that with our readers.

In the past we published content every weekday (and even some weekends). While that was fun, it is not sustainable for a team who has full time jobs and families. Going forward we will be publishing every Tuesday and Thursday.

Our purpose is to bring you original quality content that is free from advertising and marketing. To share our love of everything MTB related and to have some fun doing it.

I would like to thank our readers for sticking with us through this time of change, I think the you will like the changes. As well I would like to thank our awesome contributors for all their dedication and hard work to make this site as awesome as it is. You all rock!

As always I welcome feedback and opinions in the comment section below. I look forward to what the new year will bring and for all the awesome adventures in our future.
